Mission Critical
Another important service for PEI members
I don't know how many of you are familiar with PEI's mission statement.
Chances are, not too many. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the
vast majority of PEI members aren't even aware that we have a mission
statement.
Well, we've got a mission statement. It's one that PEI's elected
leadership and professional staff take very seriously.
PEI's mission statement expresses our fundamental purpose. It explains
why we exist as a trade association. And it serves as a guide in
evaluating old and new membership services and benefits.
In our continual effort to fulfill that mission, we welcome you
to the inaugural edition of The PEI Journal.
This new quarterly publication is launched with the hope of filling
a communications gap in meeting our mission. Existing PEI publications
like the TulsaLetter, annual PEI Directory, safety materials
and special reports all are important and well received by the membership.
Those will continue as they have in the past.
The PEI Journal will complement those publications, while
offering something new and different to our members. Read The
PEI Journal cover to cover and you will understand that it provides
you with something very unique. All the articles and information
contained here focus on PEI members. Each article is written to
help you either save money, make more money, run your business better,
get more out of your association, learn more about individual members,
or understand the industry better.
PEI has a partner in this endeavor: Data Key Communications, headquartered
in Syracuse, New York. Data Key has successfully produced first
rate and well-received magazines for other distributor-based trade
associations for years and will, in some sense, function as part
of the PEI staff.
Chances are good that someone from the editorial or advertising
staff of Data Key Communications will be calling you for an interview
about industry trends or issues. Please take the time to share your
opinions and thoughts with them. And while you have them on the
phone, share with the Data Key staff what type of articles and information
would be helpful to you in managing your business.
It is our hope that you will find enough important and useful information
in The PEI Journal that you will want to pass along this
copy to others in your company. Then we hope you want it back to
keep in your library or on your bookshelf for future reference.
If you do that, we will feel like we have added something worthwhile
to our service offerings and have taken another step in fulfilling
PEI's mission.
The Mission of the Petroleum Equipment Institute is to be the leading
authority and source of information for the petroleum equipment
handling industry. PEI is committed to promoting the value of distributor
services and improving the relationships and practices of its members.
