There’s A New Division In Town,
And Its Name Is Service & Construction
PEI members approved changes to our Constitution and Bylaws at our convention in Atlanta last November which, among other things, created a new membership division for firms that provide repair and/or construction services to their customers. We believe that in forming this new division, PEI will be better able to identify and serve an estimated 400 or more companies that specifically service or install petroleum marketing equipment.
We anticipate that most of the members who will become part of the newly formed Service & Construction Division will come from PEI’s Affiliate Division. Throughout the winter, PEI staff reviewed the PEI Directory operations text and membership file from each Affiliate Division member.
We looked for keywords such as cathodic protection testing, compliance services, construction and maintenance, demolition/deconstruction, factory-authorized service, general contractor, installation contractor, repair, maintenance, site rehabilitation, site remediation, tank and line testing, and tank removal. If Affiliate Division members used those keywords to describe their company’s operations, it is likely that we placed them in the Service & Construction Division. If they did not use those words to describe their company, we kept them in the Affiliate Division. Simple as that.
Each member of the Affiliate Division will be notified by PEI in March that their company is either placed in the new Service & Construction Division or remains in the Affiliate Division. Each Affiliate Division member will have the opportunity to agree or disagree with the placement. The important thing is that fellow members and customers are able to find them in the Membership Directory.
In forming this new division, PEI will be better able to identify and serve an estimated 400 or more companies that specifically service or install petroleum marketing equipment.

We know that many members of PEI’s Distributor Division also install and/or service equipment, as do a few members of the Manufacturer Division. It may be that those members want to move out of their current division (Distributor or Manufacturer) and into the new Service & Construction Division. We can accommodate them, beginning in April. We simply ask that you sit tight for a few months and allow us time to switch members from the Affiliate Division first.
There also will be members of the Distributor and Manufacturer Divisions who want to stay in their respective divisions BUT ALSO want to be listed in the Service & Construction Division section of the PEI Directory without having a dual membership. PEI staff is exploring ways to accommodate you. We will contact you in April and explain your options.
The formation of the new Service & Construction Division represents an exciting step forward for PEI in providing the very best service to our members. We look forward to working with you during this transition. |
