INSPIRATION BREAKFAST

Nothing is Permanent — Rene Godefroy
Born in a tiny village on the island of Haiti, Rene Godefroy was an impoverished child, perpetually tormented by cholera, rickets and malnutrition. Abandoned by his father and left behind while his mother sought work in the city, Rene subsisted on meager charity and the rare fish he caught with a string and hook. In 1983, he arrived in Montreal with a Haitian theater company and escaped into the United States wedged between the rear tires of a tractor-trailer. He arrived in New York with only five dollars in his pocket. Today, he is a proud American citizen, a successful businessman and an inspirational speaker and author. This presentation will remind us that nothing is impossible.

$30 per person      Due to limited seating, we recommend that you purchase your tickets for the Inspirational Breakfast in advance. Tickets must be presented for admittance. (Spouse registration includes ticket to the Inspirational Breakfast.)

EDUCATION SESSIONS

All PEI's Education Sessions will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center, conveniently located near the petroleum portion of the trade show.

I'm No Good with Names, But I Never Forget a Face — Bob Gray
In this two-part session, Bob Gray reveals a wonderful method to easily recall and store into memory the names of new friends and business acquaintances. Having been taught the system, participants are quickly and easily able to recall both first and last names of several new acquaintances as they are introduced during the presentation.

Working at Cross Purposes: Managing Manufacturer and Distributor Conflict
— Mike Marks
In this two-part session, Mike Marks gives participants a close look at the current manufacturer-distributor relationship. Marks and several partners conducted a major research study during 2006 into manufacturer-distributor relations. The findings have direct impact on PEI members in all stages of our complex value chain. There is significant competitive advantage available to manufacturers and distributors who can get commercially aligned against competitive rivals.

Preparing for an Unplanned Succession — Speaker TBD
Nothing can be more difficult for the family-owned business than the planning of succession. Unplanned succession can lead to forced sales and bankrupt companies, all because the owners failed to plan for one of life's certainties. But what about the uncertainties? Planning succession requires a careful look at anticipating what could happen and how the unknown can affect the management needs of the business.

Technology Best Practices — Steve Epner
Prior to convention, PEI will conduct a survey to determine members' use of technology, what is working for them, and pool resources to give members some tools to use to select the best technology for their companies.
